TV advert oddities #1

This is a starting point of the adverts on TV that make me go..”hang on, that’s not quite right” First up, the Freeview ad campaign.
Australia has finally decided to add a few more free to air tv channels. This brought about a campaign to get everyone excited. Below is an example of one of the ads used.

Notice how all the people excited about the new TV channels are NOT watching TV. Everyone is out and about, swimming, dining, going to school or at a restaurant.
New channels? and free! More for me! but you know what, I’m to busy having a life.

The Messiah has arrived….finally

After 42 weeks (yes that’s 2 weeks to the day over-cooked), my 1st child has been born.
World, meet my baby boy Drakkhart Junior.

He may look regular sized but my boy did me proud and came in at 4.526Kg (10lbs 3oz) and 55cm in length.
Mrs Drakkhart is doing very well and I have not stopped smiling yet.
I want to say a big thank you to the midwives, you guys were fantastic. And big thanks to the new grandparents for their great support.

Well it could happen after the big merger has gone ahead. Disney has successfully purchased Marvel
So what does this mean for the Marvel comics, animation series and movies?
Well the official word is business as normal but I am concerned. Yes Buena Vista ( Disney) has released adult films (no not porn) such as Apocolypto and Saw VI, but the majority of Disney products are family to young children orientated.
The last thing Marvel needs is to be child-downed in the films and comics. With the debacle of Spider-man 3 and X-Men 3, for them to come out with an Underdog-esq comic gone movie would kill their chances of having any fanboy seeing another marvel film again.
Could you imagine a Disney version of Punisher War Zone? Food for thought.

The comics should be safer …shouldn’t they? I know I have been out of the comic buzz for almost 2 years and have only just picked up a new marvel title 2 days ago…hmmm
Will we see a toned down version of flag ship titles of Ironman with less women, alcohol and violence? Maybe Venom saying his please and thank yous?
I do hope the official word from Disney is right and that they will not interfer with the more adult approach to the current line of most of the titles.
Tell me, does Marvel still follow the Comic Code Authority?

random I have finally watch both seasons of The Guild, a web based series written by Felicia Day.
For those who don’t know who she is, slap yourself upside the head.
You may remember her in Buffy or Dr Horrible’s Sing-a-long.
Anyway, do yourself a favour and watch this stunning redhead at work. She does capture the ultimate geekgirl.
Here is a clip featuring the cast of The Guild doing, well…something.

Just had to add…you like the Guild, get a load of The Legend of Neil….and yes Felicia Day is in it, as a sex crazed fairy.

random 20 weeks down, 20 to go..ish. Last week we had the 20 week scan to see Drakk Jnr and we also heard the heart beat.
It was very very cool.
This pic is not the best because after 2 days of proding, little junior got the shits and turned over to, well basically mooning us.

Posted: August 2, 2009 in Random

random Cosplay is where people get dressed up as their favourite (usually) Japanese anime or manga characters.
Sometimes it works….

VW toughens the f*@# up

Posted: June 30, 2009 in Random

randomVolkswagen is a decent car company, I have 2 mates that own VWs, a Golf and a Jetta. I am impressed with their power, safety and even their design but there was something missing from their range….

VW finally has had that spoonful of cement and has hardened the f*#@ up. Presenting the concept Robust, the VW ute!
Check out the tray….The size is shorter than a Hilux but wider, will come in common-rail turbo-diesel engine 4,5 or 6 cylinder and trying to find out anymore on it is painful…

Looks like it will be at least 2-3 years before we see it in Australia for sale.

randomOk so I am slow in discovery Coheed & Cambria but I had not heard of them until I saw the trailer for 9.
I mate of mine than educated me that the music used for the trailer was Welcome Home by Coheed & Cambria.
As I have been listening on an endless loop the new Disturbed album, he insisted I checked them out.
Was a good move. I do like it, yes sir, I do.

Recommend a listen if you like the styles of Disturbed, Alice in Chains and even Cog.
Apparently, Coheed & Cambria are on Rock Band, just FYI.

Woah…This looks interesting
