Cousins becomes a Tiger

aflThat is correct.
Ben Cousins, Brownlow winner and ex West Coast (and ex drug addict), has joined the ranks of Richmond as of today’s AFL Draft.

But what does this mean?
Well I personally think it is a great move by Richmond. Ben Cousin’s skills and experience will be a great lift to the Tiger’s midfield……as long as Cousins stays clean.
A self confessed drug addict playing for any team was always going to be tough to convince the sponsors, that it is a good idea and good for the team.
Good luck to Ben, I hope he does stay clean as he was always a great player to watch on the field and well done to the Tigers for taking a stand and picking him up.

I heard that Dean Laidley was keen to approach Cousins, would have been nice with Shannon Grant’s retirement, but Mazda (major sponsor) shut it down.

No R18+ rating for Australia….still

Posted in Rant with tags , , , , , , , , on December 1, 2008 by drakkhart

rant Yep, that’s right. Australia is still in the dark ages when it comes game ratings.

Plans to start public consultation into a possible ratings reform have been put aside after a draft discussion paper was withheld from public release.

The paper, intended as a precursor to a much wider and extensive research initiative, was shelved after Mr Michael Atkinson, Attorney-General of South Australia, withdrew his support for the consultation, effectively ending the debate.

I had such high hopes that this consultation was actually going to happen. This post may not have the same rage as my usual rants but it really is like beating a dead horse. Its the same argument evry fricking time.
When will someone in the government wake the fuck up and realise, games are not just for kids and in fact the main game players are in fact over 18!

Did you know there are at least 4 games that have already been refused classification for Australia.
Dark Sector and Shellshock 2 Blood Trails. Fallout 3 and Silent Hill: Homecoming have been edited and modified to be released in Australia.
And what do you think they will do with the new Resident Evil in 2009?

Water is bad for environment…what the?

Posted in Rant with tags , , , on February 28, 2008 by drakkhart

Can someone explain to me how buying bottles of water causes more Co2 poisoning in the world?

You hear it on TV, radio and read it in the papers (example) that some people believe that there should be a ban on bottled water. Their argument is the production of bottle water, transport and the bottles themselves are causing more damage to the environment by generated more Co2 than say drinking out of a tap.

Ok, I can see that..that is obvious BUT why only look at banning water?

Are you telling me that the production of Coke products does less damage (or none) than water? Are you saying, removing the sale of water won’t increase the sales of soft drinks?
The huge increase of sales in bottled water has got the environmentalist concerned but where is the data of the sales of soft drink or sports drinks? I would reckon that they would have dropped comparatively.

I don’t get it, I do not understand the thinking on this one.

Would it not be better to have more recycling bins about to be used by water drinkers and coke drinkers? – Go to your local food court or shopping mall have a look to see if these recycling bins are provide in adequate numbers.

Removing the sale of bottled water will not stop or reduce anything because people will just go back to buying the sports drinks, soft drinks and well for me, beer.

In fact the majority of people I know (including me) that do buy the bottled water tend to reuse the bottle itself for a few days ( one mate says he uses it for about 2 weeks before he replaces it). You should see how many we have in the fridge ready for the next day…thanks Mrs Drakkhart =)

And if you were to ban the sale of bottled water, you better make it that food outlets must provide free tap water because you know what, not all of us like soft drinks.
